DMX vs George Zimmerman: Should this fight happen?

It’s happening: DMX is set to fight child-murderer George Zimmerman in a celebrity boxing match, according to TMZ. Just last week Zimmerman announced that he was looking for an opponent to join him in the ring for a 3 round “celebrity” boxing match. He claims that any proceeds he receives from the fight, in the event that he wins, will be donated to charity. I don’t know that the NRA counts as a “charity” Georgie Porgie, but I guess you can sort that out with the IRS.

Yonkers, NY native Earl “DMX” Simmons, never one to back down from a challenge, and like most Black Americans possessed with a seething hatred of George Zimmerman and everything that he represents, promptly tossed his hat into the ring. He says he’s going to “beat the living fuck out him” and has promised to piss on Zimmerman’s face after he pummels him into submission.

Is it sad that this is the state of American race relations in the year 2014? Incredibly so. And it’s going to get ugly. The racists are going to be out in full force to support their poster boy. But hey, it’s happening, so we may as well root for the good guy. Or at least the guy representing the side that doesn’t condone racism and child murder. Close enough.

You’re gonna have to go out there and represent for Yonkers Earl. Plus, you’ve got Black America on your back, so failure is not an option.

The Hot 97 Morning Show hosts don’t think this fight should happen. They are of the opinion that Zimmerman shouldn’t be indulged and treated like a celebrity when he’s nothing more than a cowardly murderer. They make some great points, but I think they’re in denial about one important fact: George Zimmerman is already a celebrity. He’s a celebrity amongst right-wing racist lunatics to whom he represents everything that is white and right in America.

This fight shouldn’t happen, but it’s very likely that it will, because this is how shit gets settled in this country. I’m of the opinion that if it’s going to happen, it might as well be X in that ring with him. I tried to ignore the initial reports about the match because I didn’t want to give that piece of shit any more attention than he was already getting. But now a Rapper is involved, and here we are. So fuck it, I’m gonna root for him rather than call him a “raging crackhead” and assume that he has no chance of winning. Regardless of who Zimmerman fights, there’s the chance he could win and end up being glorified. It’s a sad and fucked up situation all around, but I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t want to see Zimmerman get his face bashed in.

UPDATE: X says that while he has agreed to fight Zimmerman, he’s still negotiating the purse. I don’t know, maybe we do need to call this whole thing off. It’s not supposed to be about the money X.

Future NOT SO Future

He got his name from the Dungeon Family and his sound was encouraged by his cousin Rico Wade but is Future's sound really futuristic?

For the last 5 or 6 years rappers have been living on this crutch that we all know as "Auto Tune," effect software that enhances to voice to sound more clear or a bit digital.  It was brought to us in 2004 when Florida Rapper/Singer, T-Pain, used it on his entire debut "Rappa Ternt Sanga."  From 2004 - 2006 T-Pain seemed to be the only guy in the industry that was using and then he dropped "Epiphany."  After T-Pain's sophomore effort and many collaborations with major hip hop artist, everyone jumped on the "Auto Tune" bandwagon.  You had rappers like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Jim Jones, and more using this software to not only make hits but to make entire albums.  With one or two artist using it I was cool with it but when you get cats like Yung Berg using to make and hit because they have no buzz then it's gone too far.  What Lil Wayne did with it on "Lollipop" was classic and what Kanye did on "Heartbreaks and 808s" was ingenious.  But when you have someone as talented as R. Kelly using it...............(Loss for words).

Now if you really wanna dig into it, Roger Troutman was the first one with the futuristic sound.  This brother have everyone in the thinking they were making love to the sounds and voice of a computer.  Zapp & Roger were decades before their time and they are still relevant in Hip Hop and R&B today.  Even when Roger was doing tracks with artist from Snoop Dogg to 2Pac, Blackstreet's Teddy Riley was using the invention created by Roger.  

So is Future's sound really futuristic?  No.  I would actually like to hear some tracks of Future without the added sound effects.  On joints like "Same Damn Time" and "Magic" he used it perfectly but when you listen to "Racks," even though it was a huge success, you can't make out a damn word this dude is saying.  It's cool to use it also on some of the more laid back tracks that touches his female artist but we don't want to hear it on every song.  Not only is Future singing with it, he raps with it also which is the focal point of my post.  He has overused it making everything Jay said in "D.O.A." true.  Future is a dope writer and artist and i just hope he doesn't continue to use this and fans' ears get tired of listening to it.  My advice to Future, just lay off it for a couple of tracks or every other track, IJS.
